Meet Lucas & Troy
Lucas Koenecke is a respected health, fitness and performance expert specializing in movement, human potential and positive life change.
While he is well-versed in traditional fitness modalities—Lucas is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) , holds a Degree in Exercise Science from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and a Master’s Degree in Recreation and Sports Management from Indiana State University—he firmly rejects the conventional belief that we’re all inevitably destined for pain, reduced mobility, and movement dysfunction due to injury or age. He believes that a pain-free body that functions efficiently and with joy is everyone’s birthright regardless of age and ability.
Employing methods that he’s used to transform his own life from one plagued with injury and chronic illness to one in which he has competed nationally in Strongman Competitions and enjoys a wide range of recreational sports and athletic pursuits, Lucas is passionate about showing his clients what their bodies are capable of. Lucas suffered for years from chronic asthma, degenerative disc syndrome, chronic pain, allergies, organ failure, depression and multiple surgeries. In keeping with his personal credo of “Never Quit,” Lucas pursued education in cutting-edge research and methods to discover the most effective and efficient techniques for training and healing his body. He continues to pursue training that allows him to reach his goals and he is passionate about sharing these methods with his clients so they can rehabilitate themselves and adapt to whatever life throws at them.
Lucas says it best himself, I am a better athlete today than I was yesterday and I will be a better athlete tomorrow because of my focus on the details that govern my body. With this knowledge and experience, I can teach my clients to make change and notice the details required for optimal health as well.”
Lucas knows that health—true health—is about learning and choices. He encourages people to look to the cutting edge of neuroscience for proven and intelligent solutions to athletic and performance solutions. Lucas knows that fitness, movement and health are the result of taking control, creating change and seizing opportunity. He has proven, time and again, with his own health and with that of his clients, that it can be done.
Most importantly, Lucas believes in being with his clients every step of the way. “I am not only a resource for health and better movement but also a partner for my clients in this journey of improved knowledge and skill. I pride myself in offering intelligent and honest information that I utilize myself. A good leader knows the way, shows the way and goes the way.”
In addition to being a CSCS specialist, Lucas is also a Z-Health Master trainer, focusing on the neurology behind movement and health. He was a lineman for the UW-Oshkosh Titans and is a national Strongman competitor. He is an amateur triathlete, having completed multiple sprint distance and a half-Ironman. He enjoys lacrosse, soccer, ultimate Frisbee, volleyball, softball, kickball, swimming, biking, baseball, basketball, racquetball, tennis, snowboarding, wakeboarding, etc.
Troy is our Sports & Fitness Trainer at Inside Out. He first got his start with us as client. He worked with Lucas on improving his athletic abilities for football as a running back for the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Eagles. Troys initial goals were to become faster, stronger and decrease his risk of injury.
Troy now enjoys teaching clients how to incorporate vision training into their strength workouts. It was learning how to exercise his eyes that allowed Troy to go from not being able to catch a ball, to the leading running back receiver his Senior year at La Crosse. Troy adds the experiences of Neuro-Training into his specialties of helping people realize their athletic potentials.
Whether you consider yourself an athlete or you laugh at the idea of calling yourself an athlete, Troy loves to show people the way of learning athleticism. "Learning how your entire system works together and how to use that in your workout is critical", Troy says. He also says, "Working out should be an ever changing, FUN, and innovative experience".
Being strong, having endurance and feeling good are important values to Troy. Troy's clients also report an increase in energy & metabolism. Wanna jump higher, run faster, build muscle? Sure, Troy can help you with that. Wanna get rid of some excess fat and simply feel better day in and day out? He's your guy.
Troy finished his Collegiate career from UW La Crosse with a Bachelors in Exercise Science with an emphasis on nutrition. He played football with the Eagles for 4 years as running back. He holds over 500 hours of working with collegiate athletes and many additional hours working with "general population" (everyday athletes) peeps. Troy will continue his post collegiate studies with Z-Health under the direction of our Master Trainer Lucas. Passion for learning is a quality that Troy takes with him throughout every adventure in life. To challenge himself and others around him is something he enjoys.
When Troy is not training clients, he likes to spend time with family & friends, golf, volleyball, softball, fishing, skiing, and spending time with his dog Tatum.
